World-Class Faculty and Ensemble Opportunities

Students learn from Guitarists An Tran and Robert Sherman, renowned pedagogues, performers, and recording artists. Chamber music and ensemble studies are integrated into the curriculum, giving students regular opportunities to collaborate with students and faculty of other instruments.

Become a Multifaceted Musician

In addition to developing comprehensive musicianship skills, analytic abilities, and stylistic knowledge, the student will:

  • Become acquainted with guitar literature through study, analysis, and performance of a cross-section of the standard repertory, encompassing all stylistic periods;
  • Experience ongoing solo and ensemble performing opportunities;
  • Develop principles and methods for teaching, with an emphasis on critical listening, problem-solving, verbal articulation, psychological insights, communication, inspiration, and clarity;
  • Develop chamber music skills;
  • (BM) Study Spanish to support their studies in Guitar;
  • (MM and PD) Hone the skills to effectively transcribe repertoire from other instruments.
